Pessary Fitting

A pessary appointment can feel personal, so our approach is calm and step-by-step.

We explain what we are doing and why, and you can pause or ask questions at any point.

Recommendations are based on your symptoms, comfort, and lifestyle, not a one-size plan.

Why Choose Fraser Physiotherapy

  • Pelvic health-focused care under one roof. You can combine pessary support with pelvic floor physiotherapy, and access massage therapy or acupuncture if it fits your plan.
  • A personalized fitting process. We take the time to understand your symptoms, your goals, and your comfort level before recommending next steps.
  • Clear, practical education. You will leave knowing what your pessary is for, how it should feel, and when to follow up.
  • Same-day appointment availability when possible. If you need care quickly, we will try to get you in as early as today.
  • Accessible and patient-centered. We offer flexible scheduling for busy lives and we accept IFHP clients.
  • Trusted, regulated providers. Care is delivered by registered physiotherapists and registered massage therapists, with a clinic that is highly rated by patients on Google.

Who Benefits from a
Pessary Fitting

A pessary fitting may be a good fit if you want symptom relief without surgery, or if you need support while you work on pelvic floor rehab.

  • People noticing a vaginal heaviness, pressure, or “bulging” sensation that worsens by the end of the day
  • Anyone dealing with bladder leakage during coughing, sneezing, lifting, running, or jumping
  • Those with prolapse symptoms after pregnancy and delivery who want support while returning to activity
  • Perimenopausal or postmenopausal adults with new or worsening pelvic support symptoms
  • People who stand, lift, or carry at work and feel pelvic pressure by mid-shift
  • Patients who are waiting for a specialist appointment and want conservative symptom management now
  • Individuals who are not ready for surgery, or who are not a good candidate for surgery
  • People who already have a pessary but it feels uncomfortable, slips, causes irritation, or is not helping enough

What to Expect on Your First Visit

Your first visit starts with a private conversation about your symptoms, health history, daily activities, and what “better” would look like for you. If a pessary seems appropriate, we will explain the options, complete an assessment, and proceed with fitting at a pace that feels respectful and manageable. The goal is comfort and function, not forcing a quick solution. You will also get clear guidance on what to watch for and how to tell if the fit is working.

Practically, plan for an appointment that allows time for questions. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a list of any medications, relevant medical notes, and any pessary you currently use (if applicable). Follow-up is part of the process, because fit and symptom changes often happen over time.
